Jazz and Pop Vocalist. Lisa Marie Ellis moved to Reno, Nevada, directly after high school to pursue a career in music. Her first professional engagement was at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Reno, where she appeared weekly in Trader Dick’s lounge. Lisa soon began touring casinos and other venues throughout Northern Nevada and California, performing a variety of music genres. Eventually she made her way to the theatrical stage, taking lead roles in such productions as Evita, Follies, and Carousel. Her solo performance as "The Mistress" in Evita was noted as “one of the highlights” of the musical by Becky Lemon of the Reno Gazette-Journal.
Lisa met Bill Ellis, a musician and songwriter, while performing five nights a week at Tex’s Saloon in North Highlands, California. Sharing a passion for music and theater, they married and then moved to the San Francisco area to continue pursuing their music careers. It was in a Bay area theater that they first produced Bill’s original rock musical, Beyond the Wall, with Lisa in the lead female role. The response to this limited-budget production was overwhelming. Lisa hopes to help Bill bring this exciting rock musical to Broadway.

Lisa’s stunning vocal quality and range were developed into maturity over several years of study and training with world-renowned vocal coach Judy Davis. Davis trained such great artists as Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and Mary Martin.
Lisa utilizes the full range of her voice, choosing her lower range for a sultry feel, a medium to higher range for up-tempo tunes, and a high head range when performing show tunes such as “Memory” or “Think of Me.” Her ability to emulate different languages gives her even more versatility. She performs several Brazilian songs in Portuguese, and opens “Autumn Leaves” in French.

Performing in a variety of venues in the Sacramento area (including the Slocum House Restaurant, Thunder Valley Casino, and Delta King Hotel), Lisa often combines her love of jazz with her musical theatre background. She carefully selects her numbers, choosing songs that have both sophisticated melodies and meaningful lyrics. Lisa’s group combination varies from duo to quartet and more. The size of her band, “The Cat Pack,” varies to fit the venue and budget.
Newly relocated to the San Diego area, Lisa is currently working on a show with a fellow female vocalist, featuring Broadway and Jazz music, segued with funny dialogue. They hope to take their show on tour following its launch in March 2014.
