www. epicadance.com Phillip Duong, Director and Choreographer of Epica Latin Dance Company, is one of Hawaii's young and promising latin dance performer and instructor. In 2011, Phillip and his partner Kimberly became Hawaii's youngest Salsa Champions and at the World Latin Dance Cup, advanced to the Semifinals. Learning salsa straight from high school and continuing his training in the mainland with many renowned instructors, Phillip has continued to display his unique talents to all spectrums of arts and entertainment in Hawaii.
He continues to wow audiences with exciting and innovative dance shows with his dance partner Kimberly, in the first year of Epica's existence travelling to the Texas Salsa Congress, World Latin Dance Cup, Salsa en Fuego, Hawaii Salsa Festival, and Hawaii Bachata Festival. Also trained in hip hop and modern dance, he has been known around the scene for his sharp and defined body movement mixed with his gentle lead and big smile. He has taught at all of the major congresses in Hawaii and is given praise for his energy, charisma, and break-down of technique during his workshops. Phillip hopes to leave a lasting impression on the Hawaii latin dance scene before pursuing major markets internationally. is a scholarship recipient of Dancers Unlimited's prestigious New York City training tour.
Kimberly Loo Tordjman, Director of Epica Latin Dance Co, has over twenty years of training in many forms of dance, beginning in 1989. Kimberly unquenchable zest when social dancing led to a pursuit of salsa and other Latin dances on a higher level.
She has taught and performed Latin dance in Honolulu, Big Island, California, Texas, Japan, Morocco, and India. Prior to Epica, she directed the Nazca Dolls, a ladies styling group based in Okinawa, Japan. In Hawaii, Kimberly's versatility in dance has led to performances in multiple styles with Sininho Samba (Brazilian Samba), Cherry Blossom Cabaret (Burlesque), and Dancers Unlimited (Urban). She is currently a performer at the nightly "Legends in Concert:Waikiki."
Beginning with ballet in the Royal Academy of Dance style under Jennifer Schwartz at Kauai Dance Center, Kimberly has danced intensively under Victoria Koenig of Inland Pacific Ballet, Chris Witt, Paul Roach, Claremont Ballroom, Ballet Hawaii, West Hawaii Dance Theatre, Michelle Cole, Mary Houar, Iolani Dancers, and Drill Team Hawaii in Salsa, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Swing, and International Style Ballroom.
On the competition side, Kimberly's trophies include the 2011 Hawaii Salsa Championship, 2011 World Latin Dance Cup On2 Semifinalist, 2012 Texas Salsa Open 1st Runner Up, 2007 & 2008 USABDA National Ballroom Dance Championship with the Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company's Formation Team at the Ohio Star Ball, and 2008 Claremont Dance Festival Open Jack & Jill Champion.
