Hello,
My name is Melinda. I have been playing violin for 20 years and have been teaching violin lessons for 13 years.
I started playing the violin at age 10. I studied music education at CMU for a year after graduation. Over the years I have performed with St.Cecillia orchestra, Grand Rapids Classical Orchestra, Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, Central Symphony Orchestra, and I am currently playing with the Calvin Community Symphony. In addition, I have attended a number of music camps including Knollcrest (Calvin College), Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and Seminar Music Camp (WMU). At age 16, I helped to start a music camp near Petoskey. I was the sectional instructor, a private lesson teacher, and conducted a few songs. It is still running to this day.
In my time as a violin teacher I have instructed dozens of students of a wide variety of ages and playing levels, from those picking up the instrument for the first time, to more seasoned performers. I also taught at a music academy for a few years.
I have also been performing for weddings for over 11 years now. I have performed solo, in duets, in trios, and in quartets. I primarily perform in duets or solo now. My name is Christy Wolff, and I join Melinda in playing in duets for weddings. I have been a violinist for 17 years, and have played in numerous weddings throughout the years. Melinda and I have played in various groups together on and off for the past 13 years, so we really have a feel for the others style. We LOVE what we do!
