Bringing the reef to your living room, one frag at a time! Frag Freaks is a small two person operated business, run by Rob and Dennis. Our love for the hobby is the motivation behind our business. Together we have over twenty years of experience in both saltwater and freshwater industries. We specialize in coral frags but also deal in some aquarium fish, invertebrates, and equipment. Our main goal is to provide high quality livestock at great prices while providing excellent customer service.
We are thriving towards having all aquacultured coral that will be raised and fragged by us. We already have a few select corals that have been 100% aquacultured in our system and that number is growing. Aquacultured corals are normally easier to care for. Colors tend to be brighter and the risk of disease is greatly reduced. It also minimizes the harvesting of our natural reefs and helps to preserve the health of the natural reef ecosystems.
Before our coral goes up for sale we monitor each specimen’s health for a minimum of two weeks. By doing this, we can minimize the risk of stress from transition of our system to yours. It will also reduce the risk of losses. We want to be confident that all of our coral going to you, the customer, is nice and healthy. All corals that are fragged in-house are immediately dipped in iodine to prevent infection. Freshly fragged corals are kept in our system and monitored for at least three weeks before we allow them to go up for sale. The health of our corals is very important to us.
Currently we have a small system of about 200-300 gallons. All of our coral is housed under full spectrum LED lighting. Each of the fixtures used are programmable and the LEDs are ramped up and down to simulate sunrise to sunset to ensure that all coral receive the proper amount of light to stimulate maximum growth. LEDs seem to be the more popular lighting option at the moment so we wanted to be able to provide corals grown under these conditions to better match with the customer’s setups.
