El programa de radio “Quisqueya y sus canciones”, que se transmite todos los domingos de 6 a 8 de la mañana, por las frecuencias radiales de AM, en la emis El programa de radio “Quisqueya y sus canciones”, que se transmite todos los domingos de 6 a 8 de la mañana, por las frecuencias radiales de AM, en la emisora WKDM 1380, en esta ciudad de Nueva York, está aumentando la audiencia dominical vertiginosamente.
En el 2007, días de las madres dominicanas, este programa salió al aire y desde su primera salida ha demostrado calidad en su producción y transmisión. La programación está estructurada en base a la inmortal música romántica dominicana y las canciones de este género que fueron, son y serán populares entre los dominicanos y otros hermanos latinoamericanos que muestran preferencia por esta musical.
Este programa se ha propuesto como meta mantener la imagen de los músicos, compositores e intérpretes dominicanos del género de boleros y baladas, al mismo tiempo que sirve de plataforma para los nuevos valores. Sus productores, Frank Castro, Lissette Montolio y Edwin Álvarez incluyen semanalmente las canciones de los artistas dominicanos de toda una época y que se han mantenido vivos en el pentagrama musical del país y el extranjero.
El programa es musical, pero dentro del programa se realizan dos segmentos especiales. El primero “Raíces Dominicana’ dedicado a resaltar las personalidades y artistas dominicanos. El segundo segmento, se titula “Pinceladas de Quisqueya” y es una intervención, directamente desde la República Dominicana, del reconocido y también cantante, Armando Recio, quien presenta un resumen informativo de todas las actividades del mundo social y del entretenimiento pasada en el mundo esa semana.
En el segmento “Raíces Dominicana’ cada domingo se entrevistan a artistas y personalidades dominicanas, sin importar la rama en la que se desempeñe, para saber qué han hecho y haciendo en la actualidad y conocer sobre sus planes profesionales y artísticos.
El Productor Ejecutivo y Director Técnico, Frank Castro dijo que todos los esfuerzos que hace el equipo de trabajo son dirigidos a que los jóvenes de la nueva generación sepan quienes son nuestros valores.
