THE SUCCESS OF YOUR SPRAY TAN DEPENDS GREATLY UPON HOW WELL YOU PREPARE YOUR SKIN PRIOR TO YOUR TAN AND HOW WELL YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN FOLLOWING YOUR TAN.
Before your spray tan:
*Start EXFOLIATING your skin at least three to five days prior to your appointment. I recommend exfoliating shower gloves or you can use a non oily body scrub. Moisturize your skin as much as possible prior to your appointment.
*Any manicures and pedicures should be done prior to your appointment. Do not have a paraffin dip if you have a mani/pedi the day of your tan.
Any waxing should be done at least one day prior to your appointment.
*On the day of your appointment, wear or bring loose fitting dark clothing and flip flops to wear following your appointment.
*Prior to your spray tan, shower, exfoliate and do not wear lotion, deodorant or face makeup.
*Wear whatever you are comfortable in for your tanning session. A dark swimsuit, strapless bra or nude.
Following your spray tan:
*If it is raining bring an umbrella
*Try not to touch your skin.
*Wear loose fitting dark clothing and avoid socks and shoes for a few hours following your tan.
*Do not shower, wash your face, perspire or swim for 8-10 hours following your spray tan.
*Take care when washing your hands to avoid washing the backs of your hands.
*Avoid wearing a bra if possible until your first shower.
*You will continue to darken as your tan develops. Before your first shower you will be very dark as your tan has developed and you still have the cosmetic bronzer on your skin. When you shower you will notice the bronzer washing off. Your tan will be underneath.
*Shower using a gentle soap or cleanser. Avoid shaving during your first shower. Blot your skin with a towel following your shower. Avoid rubbing.
*Avoid exfoliating and the use of products containing salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, acne treatments and retinols as these will fade your tan.
*Before your first shower the bronzer may rub off on your clothes or sheets. This in normal and should come out during regular washing.
*Your spray tan should last between 7-10 days depending on how well you exfoliated prior to your appointment and how well you moisturize your skin following your appointment. MOISTURIZE twice a day if possible. I recommend Southseas Tan Extender Lotion if you are going on vacation, want your tan to last up to 2 weeks, or will be swimming in chlorine.
