Float over farm fields, ponds and rivers. Catch a glimpse of white tail deer bounding across fields, birds soaring below, and enjoy the wonder of lighter than air flight! Your adventure begins when you are greeted by our FAA certified commercial pilot and experienced launch crew at the take-off point. You'll watch with awe as the almost seven story balloon takes shape from a seemingly endless stream of nylon fabric. You are briefed for your lift-off and as you majestically rise, the colorful scenery begins to unfold. During the flight, with the exception of the occasional roar of the burner, the only sounds you hear are the sounds of nature or the envious people cheering from below. After drifting leisurely for approximately one hour, you prepare to descend back to Mother Earth.

Flight schedules are based on a first come - first serve basis. Reservations are highly recommended! We start flying the first week of June and end the last week of October. Morning and evening flights are available Monday through Saturday and Sunday evenings. Morning flights begin shortly after sunrise and evening flights 2 - 3 hours before sunset. Balloons do not fly in rain, fog, snow, or winds above 10 mph. These and many other conditions affect the decision to fly or not to fly and are considered to ensure a safe flight for all. The final decision will be made by Wander Aloft Ballooning LLC.
Two passenger flights are $430.00 and single passengers are $240.00. All of our flights are Private Flights! A $25.00 non-refundable deposit will confirm your flight. This fee will be applied to the cost of the flight. Maximum combined passenger weight is limited to 400 lbs.
Although we are fully insured and have a 100% safety record, a signed waiver is required from each passenger to fulfill our insurance requirements. If you would like us to travel to a launch site of your choice, there is a $50.00 trip charge.

Balloon FAQ
How high do you fly?
Most flights take place between 1500 and 2000 ft. above the ground. There are minimum altitudes we are required to maintain which is determined by the area where we are flying. In sparsely populated areas it's possible to "contour" fly just above the fields and tree tops. It is also possible to fly at higher altitudes.
Is it windy in the balloon?
Because we are flying the same speed and direction as the wind, you will not experience the sensation of wind while in the balloon.
What should I wear? Is it cold?
The temperature during the flight can be 5 to 10 degrees warmer in the basket than on the ground. There is no wind chill as we are moving with the wind, and the radiant heat from the burner adds to the warmth in the basket. Always dress for the ground temperature. Wear flat, enclosed, comfortable shoes (no sandals or open toe shoes) and we recommend long pants for all passengers. It's not uncommon to land in pastures. On morning flights the ground may be damp. The burner radiates a lot of heat, so we recommend caps for our taller passengers. For each 1000 ft. above ground, the temperature difference is about 3 degrees cooler.
Where do we launch?
The launch sites vary depending on the wind speed and direction. The majority of our flights take place on the north side of Fort Wayne and continue into the rural countryside. Your pilot will inform you of the actual location the day of your flight. It may be possible for us to launch from a location of your choosing. Make sure you inform us early on, so we take this into consideration in planning your flight. Flights originating outside Allen County will incur a $25.00 trip fee.
Where do we land?
There is an old balloon saying. "You never know until you get there! " That's part of the charm of balloon flight. You go where the wind takes you! The real answer is fields, farms, parking lots, and sometimes driveways.
Can family and friends come along for my adventure?
Family and friends are welcome to join in on the experience. We have found that it adds greatly to the fun and excitement of the entire ballooning experience. Let us know if you and your friends would like to help with the preparation, inflation, and deflation of the balloon. Our chase vehicle can accommodate two people in addition to our crew, so extra spectators should plan on following the balloon in a personal vehicle.
Are there any age or physical restrictions?
Passengers must be at least 48" tall. They must be able to see over the side of the basket without being held. Children under the age of 10 tend to be frightened by the noise of the burner and the heat generated by it. Passengers between the ages of 10 & 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Passengers will be standing for about 1 hour. Allow 3-4 hours for your adventure.
Due to the inherent risks associated with ballooning, there are some who may be unable to enjoy the sport:women at any stage of pregnancy, persons with recent back injury, joint replacement or joint surgery, osteoporosis, broken or injured limbs, recent surgery of any kind, or anyone who is not able to stand for extended periods of time or are reliant on oxygen breathing equipment.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation of a flight results in forfeit of the $25 scheduling fee.
Rescheduling a flight due to weather conditions will not result in any additional fees.
Gift certificates, which are paid in full, are not refundable.
Wander Aloft flight and gift certificates are valid for one year.
What is the landing like?
Although the pilot makes every effort to pick the best flight conditions, Mother Nature sometimes will throw some surprises at us. Landing at 10 mph or greater will cause the basket to bounce and maybe tip over at landing. The initial ground contact is similar to jumping off a two foot step ladder. On most flights, the landing is closer to a hop and a skip.
How do we get back to the launch field?
Our chase crew follows our flight path. When we determine a landing site, the crew obtains land owner permission and then everyone helps to pack up the balloon. We return to the launch site for a toast to celebrate your adventure! We can accommodate two people in our chase vehicle. If you have more people in your party, they are more than welcome to follow along with our flight crew.
Can I bring a camera?
You certainly want a camera to record your beautiful flight. It is advisable to bring the case to protect it during landing and a strap to secure the camera to yourself.
What are the ideal weather conditions for a flight?
We require light winds, less than 10 mph, good visibility, and no impending adverse weather. A great deal of the flight planning process involves checking the can you fly?
current forecast, speaking with "flight service", and tracking a pi-ball (helium balloon) to see firsthand what the winds are doing at various altitudes.
Can you steer a balloon?
While there is no steering wheel, a pilot can change direction by ascending or descending. The air at different altitudes, moves in different directions, allowing the balloon to shift direction by changing altitude.
How many passengers can you fly?
We can fly 2 passengers. Maximum combined passenger weight is 385 lbs. This is based on the balloon's gross lift at 65 degrees F. We may be able to arrange for a second balloon if you have more than 2 people in your group.
